 ‘A.I. & Wildness’

Today is a conversation with Brad Cantrell.

Brad is the Chair of the Landscape Architecture program at the University of Virginia.

Today we’re talking about his recent research which can be found in both the book ‘Responsive Landscapes’ that he co-authored with Justine Holzman in 2015 as well as a paper he co authored with Laura J. Martin, and Erle C. Ellis called ‘Designing Autonomy: Opportunities for New Wildness in the Anthropocene’. This article is our jumping off point for the conversation which discusses the use of machine learning for maintaining areas of non human ecologies. What are the implications and opportunities in decision making when ecological territories are structured by an AI or machine learning strategy.

It was great to talk with Brad again and hope you enjoy!
